Karolis Strautniekas creates very smart, fine and warm illustrations. Often textured, balancing between surreal and realistic, his portfolio is a joy to click through. Personal favourites of mine are the cover illustration for DuJour and his latest work for Forbes.
His compositions feel really cinematic, with original point of views which make good storytelling. He recently made illustrations for an editorial from the Guardian about Harper Lee’s new novel: Go Set A Watchmen. Another favourite of mine is his book called WALL, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Die Rakete is one of the top-venues for electronic dance music in Germany. The promotional material created by Unfun acted as my gateway drug to their work. The posters are weird and colourful, and wrong but appropriate. On their site you’ll find a selection of very good work with a strong focus on typography. These guys know their stuff. Lovely work.
Fresh breath and a fresh shirt are all you need for this year’s festival season. Now both can be acquired from Sportlife. We teamed up with our favourite artists Venour to create a collection of squeaky fresh limited edition t-shirts, with new designs appearing through the year. All for free!
