Ready to Inspire is a new, affordable, conference about the craft of web design, type and code. Speakers include Jeffrey Zeldman and lads from companies like Facebook and Typekit. I think it’s cool that an event like this will take place in The Netherlands and we decided to support it at Mangrove. Really enjoyed making the website responsive together with illustrator Nozzman.
A brand-new New Work has arrived. Retina-ready! Responsive design! HTML5! CSS3! Font-face! Facebook integration! We tried to put all the buzzwords in here without screwing a concept that worked. As a front-end developer at Mangrove you will be translating the designs of our art directors into the back end environment of our developers. This involves fighting for a kingdom full of web standards.

The Royal Netherlands Navy and Air Force are hosting their ‘Open days’ this summer. We developed two apps that also provide a playful way to get to know the armed forces. Incl. a QR game on the days itself.
Remember scrolling and dragging through all those awesome 360 video capture examples? You’ll be able to do it yourself with your iPhone 4 when you attach the Dot. A pocketable 360º lens for your iPhone 4. The quality is (much) lower than Yellowbird, but the examples still look promising.
Last week the studio of NewWork friend Bart Aalbers opened in Rotterdam, together with some other great illustrators. One of them is JellePelle, who illustrates stuff like board games, posters and children’s books – with amazing details. Really. It’s insane. I wish I had these books as a child!

The app of Dutch cartoonist Nozzman was first rejected by Apple because of explicit content and iPad jokes but the censored edition is now available for free in the Dutch app store. Besides rude and gross humor, it also contains code by me and Mangrove.
