Google Poetics

Google Poetics is born from viewing Google autocomplete suggestions as poems. Google’s algorithm offers searches after just a few keystrokes when typing in the search box, in an attempt to predict what the user wants to type. The combination of these suggestions can be funny, absurd, dadaistic – and sometimes even deeply moving.

Studio AKQA has created a beautiful and intuitive iPad app for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that allows you to explore the stories of endangered animals such as elephants, whales, rhinos, tigers and other species. For each animal featured there is editorial content, beautiful photography, high def videos, unusual facts and even downloadable origami animal templates.

New light

Philips started selling its high-tech Hue LED light bulbs exclusively in Apple stores. Screw in the bulbs and you can customize almost everything from light colour, brightness to timer, all through an app. What’s also interesting is that Philips will release an API so that developers can start creating apps using the Hue technology. Think of a nav app that turns your lights on when you’re near your home. Neat!
